6. Secure the dental bib with medical tape.

7. Cover the green soap, water, and alcohol with plastic bottle covers.

8. Cover the tattoo machine with a tattoo machine cover.

9. Scoop 2–5 grams (about the size of a pinky) of Vaseline with the tongue depressor and place it on the dental bib. Ideally, place it closer to you as you will be reaching for it frequently during the session.

10. Secure the ink caps 2–3 inches away from the Vaseline by placing a small amount of Vaseline at the bottom of each cap.

11. Pour your ink. Use a paper towel to twist the tip of the bottle to avoid unnecessary spills and close the tip with the paper towel.

12. Open the needles last. Make sure to check the expiry date.

13. Cover the armrest with a dental bib and secure with rubber bands.

14. Cover the tattoo bed with bed sheets. The same applies to the pillows if they are needed.

15. Cover the chair handle with a plastic cover.

16. Return items into the drawer if not needed during the tattoo process. This includes ink bottles, stencil transfers, scissor etc.

17. Phones are allowed as long as they are covered. iPad for reference use should also be covered.

18. After opening your needles, please save the labels for record keeping.

  1. Ask your client to sign the consent form – the QR code is located on the table.

  1. Turn the station light on and remove the tattoo chair and armrest from the bed.

  2. Put on double gloves and sanitize the tattoo station, bed, chair, and armrest.

  3. Remove the outer gloves.

  4. Bring out all necessary equipment from your tattoo station:

  • Cover the top of your station with food plastic wrap (optional).

  • Acquire a dental bib and lay it out flat with the matte side facing up.

  • Medical tape

  • Ink caps

  • Rubber bands

  • Needles

  • Black adhesive wrap

  • Tongue depressor

  • Plastic bottle and tattoo machine cover

  • Paper towels

  • Marker

  • Vaseline

  • Ink and stencil transfer

  • Scissors

  • Razor (only if needed – assess the placement first)

TATTOO STATION BREAK DOWN

  1. Start with wearing double gloves

  2. Establish which hand with remain clean and which will be dirty.

  3. Clean from the cleanest and dirtiest areas:

  • With the dirty hand, grab and remove bed cover

  • Clean hand holds the inside of the pillow as the dirty hand pulls the cover

  • Clean hand grabs the arm rest bar as the dirty hand removes the dental bib

  • Clean hand grabs wash bottle’s nozzle while the dirty hand removes plastic cover

  • Place bottles in the centre of the tattoo bed

  • From here onwards, both hands can be dirty

  • Locate your needles and razor and discard them in the needle container

  • Remove tattoo machine cover and place tattoo machine with the wash bottles

  • Discard any remaining items from your tattoo station into the garbage

  • Remove outer gloves

  • Spray station and bed with Cavicide – read the instructions on the container

  • With both hands, grab a pair paper towel 

  • Wipe tattoo station starting from drawer handles and finishing with the top surface 

  • Discard the used towels and replenish with clean ones

  • Clean tattoo chair, arm rest and tattoo bed

  • As you sanitize the bed, clean tattoo machine and 

  • The foot of the bed should be cleaned last

  • Dispose gloves.

4. Return tattoo chair and arm rest on top of the tattoo bed. 

5. Rotate tattoo bed and have it face the wall and adjust the head and legs approximately 45 degrees.

6. Turn off the station light and adjust push it closer to the wall.

Optional: Clean your arm with paper towel with green soap.
